INNER STRENGTH

Thanks Heavens for the few shoots of pages from the book THE WRECK OF THE MEDUSA - The Tragic Story Of The Death Raft.

This is a story, and well not just a story, but a true to life story of the Post-Napoleonic tutelage maritime casualty - something related to that.

A story of a death raft.

Ok. For short (I haven't finished the book yet, as of this scribbling) around 400 flesh and souls were crammed into a makeshift, wobbly and wrecked-wicked raft after the rapture of the French frigate The Medusa. To think that they are vying the boundless unforgiving seas giving them bone-shrilling experience, only that what they called "inner strength" will give you the tough carcass to survive the daredevil cold of the night and the hell-sent scourging heat of the day not counting the devoid presence of food shelter and clothing.

The story at around pages 94 and 95 supra, tell of the story of brute individuals mostly armies who knows no power but brute. They were cruel unrelenting men, who for irony, perish the most and first amidst that calling situation.

Men or soldiers with what they call "Napoleonic protege" were men with strength from the inside out - the what they call "inner strength."

Sometimes the battle is not won by brutal force just like what happened to the Medusa tragedy. Few of them were determined that part and parcel of their survival is about that inner strength, that inner value, inner esteem, self-love, self-worth, fighting spirit - you name it.

Outward strength might last only as long as you have it for a day in every fiber of your muscles. The practical problem with the situation is that food ration is a thing before the casualty. So brutal strength now is at stake.

Reason why those physically brute men perished is that they were rejects of the society, used and abused. At times of tragedy, they may have outward bravery the way they lack inward strength and value to love themselves and their lives despite of the situation.

While the Napoleonic soldiers were men taught and treated with value that's why they have more wider perspective and gut to survive in a tormenting situation.
