Thanks heavens for this really deep thought!
The Kung-Fu Panda!
I thought it was just another movie, and I thought really long. I've been watching the movie for gazillion times. Lately I just got something really deep from the movie.
It is contained in the secret scroll.
The scroll is most coveted, sought-after and was worth the return of the public enemy number one of the entire village.
Only to find out-----there was nothing there but a blurry reflection of the one holding the scroll.
OK.
The thought is this. There is nothing really special about Po the Panda only that somewhere up there (at the Jade Palace) somebody believes in him - and that is Master Oogway.
Yup, except his fat flabby parts, perhaps his tonnage weight and his "utter disregard to hygiene" nothing more is intimidating about Po - no claws, no poisonous stingers, no venom, whatsoever. Until Master Shifu figured out a way on how to train him to be a dragon warrior made to defeat a sinister - Tai Lung.
Oogway's confidence in Po connects to what Po's dad thought him - the secret ingredient of his special soup which was later relieved that the secret ingredient is NOTHING.
"In order for one to be special, you just have to believe he's special."
The same thing is true with the Secret Scroll - nothing is in there except that you just have to believe that YOU ARE SPECIAL!
Mr. Ping:
The secret ingredient is... nothing!
Po:
Huh?
Mr. Ping:
You heard me. Nothing! There is no secret ingredient.
Po:
Wait, wait... it's just plain old noodle soup? You don't add some kind of special sauce or something?
Mr. Ping:
Don't have to. To make something special you just have to believe it's special.
[Po looks at the scroll again, and sees his reflection in it]
Po:
There is no secret ingredient...
This orchestrate with the philosophy I've learned that "Man is the measure of all things." At your own perspective, nothing is special to you unless you allow it to be special.
Here's some really deep quotable exchange between Oogway and Shifu:
Oogway: My friend, the panda will never fulfill his destiny, nor you yours until you let go of the illusion of control.
Shifu: Illusion?
Oogway: Yes. [points at peach tree]
Oogway: Look at this tree, Shifu: I cannot make it blossom when it suits me nor make it bear fruit before its time.
Shifu: But there are things we *can* control: I can control when the fruit will fall, I can control where to plant the seed: that is no illusion, Master!
Oogway: Ah, yes. But no matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an orange, but you will get a peach.
Shifu: But a peach cannot defeat Tai Lung!
Oogway: Maybe it can, if you are willing to guide, to nurture it, to believe in it.
Shifu: But how? How? I need your help, master.
Oogway: No, you just need to believe. Promise me, Shifu, promise me you will believe.
And here is more between Po and Master Oogway. This is where Master Oogway consoled Po on his way to depression.
Oogway: So why are you so upset?
Po: I probably sucked more today than anyone in the history of kung fu. In the history of China.
In the history of sucking! And the Five! Man, you should've seen them! They totally hate me.
Oogway: Totally.
Po: How is Shifu ever going to turn me into the Dragon Warrior? I mean, I'm not like the Five. I've got no claws, no wings, no venom. Even Mantis has those... thingies. Maybe I should just quit and go back to making noodles.
Oogway: Quit, don't quit. Noodles, don't noodles. You are too concerned with what was and what will be. There's a saying: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.
Well, guys it's up for you now to make yourself - no one else does but you!
God is Goodness and life is beautiful!
